Hall of Fame quarterback, Mike Pawlawski, will talk at the Cal Alumni Club’s Blue and Gold Big Game Rally for the Cal Bears, Tuesday, November 12,
The rallying talk will focus on the Cal football team and their new membership for the 2024 season with the Atlantic Coast Conference. Highlights from his time at Cal as an outstanding quarterback and HOF winner will also be discussed.
Pawlawski led the Golden Bears to a 10–2 record and a No. 8 national ranking in 1991. One of Cal’s most winning quarterbacks of the modern era, Pawlawski directed the Bears to bowl games in each of his two seasons as a starter in 1990 and ’91. As a senior, he won Pac-10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year accolades after leading the Bears to a 10-2 record and No. 7 national ranking – the school’s best mark in 41 years dating back to Pappy Waldorf’s 1950 team. He completed 60.4 percent (191-of-316) of his passes for 2,517 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior and carved up Clemson for 230 yards (21-of-32 passing) with no interceptions in a 37-13 win in the 1992 Citrus Bowl. He completed 194-of-325 attempts for 2,241 yards and 18 TDs as a junior in propelling Cal to a 7-4-1 mark and 19-17 victory over Wyoming in the 1990 Copper Bowl
Pawlawski concluded his career with a 17-6-1 record as a starting quarterback and later played one NFL season with Tampa Bay before starring for the Albany Firebirds in the Arena Football League for several years.
Pawlawski has gone on to a successful broadcasting career. He is currently the radio color commentator for Cal football on KGO 810 and the Cal radio network, plus the host of Gridiron Outdoors on Outdoor Channel.
